New report recommends family support unit for Carrigaline via corkpolitics.ie, Nov 6th, 2009 at 14:28

image Michael McGrath A NEW report has recommended the establishment of a new family support centre in Carrigaline, which would provide a base for support services across the town. The report, which was drawn up by the Carrigaline? Family Support Initiative, was put together to look at the current level of family? support services available in the area and to establish what the future family support ?needs are and to make recommendations based on these needs. It found that while the town has already implemented a number of key social support services, that a new family support centre now needs to be developed in the suburb. Local TD, Deputy Michael McGrath has welcomed the new report, which he says, will provide the blueprint for the provision of ?family support services in Carrigaline for... Similar posts

image FIANNA Fáil TD Michael McGrath has welcomed the allocation of €300,000 by the Department of Transport for the resurfacing of Carrigaline Main Street. The funding will go towards the resurfacing of 600 metres of Main Street and the work will be done later this year following the laying of a new water main pipe, according to Deputy McGrath. Deputy McGrath, who had taken up the issue of funding for the resurfacing of the Main Street directly with Transport Minister Noel Dempsey, said, “I am delighted that the Minister has recognised the unacceptable condition of Carrigaline Main Street and has provided this Specific Improvement Grant which will help to address the appalling condition of the road surface. “I appreciate that the forthcoming pipe laying and road resurfacing works will... The Cork South Central TD also paid tribute to those behind the compilation of the new Family Support Needs Analysis of Carrigaline report, which was prepared by the Carrigaline Family Support Initiative. “The purpose of the report was to establish the current level of family support services in the area, establish what the future family support needs are and to make recommendations based on these needs. The document is most professional and will provide the blueprint for the provision of family support services in Carrigaline for many years to come. “Carrigaline experienced rapid population growth in recent years. Togher and Mahon to retain ‘Rapid’ status via corkpolitics.ie, Oct 15th, 2009 at 10:23

image Michael McGrath BOTH Togher and Mahon are to set retain their Rapid status despite recommendations to scrap the designation in the McCarthy report. According to Cork South Central TD, Deputy Michael McGrath, both of the city towns are to retain their status under the new Programme for Government and will continue to benefit from funding under the scheme. Welcoming the news, Deputy McGrath said, “the focus of the Rapid programme is on people working together, to make things happen through the combined efforts of the community, the voluntary sector. This model has worked exceptionally well in Mahon and Togher and has been driven by the Area Implementation Team which meets monthly. The Programme will now continue to receive Government funding and the local communities in Mahon and... Similar posts

Proper planning needed to guard against ‘white flight’ via An Irish Town Planner's Blog, Dec 7th, 2007 at 01:17

NEW GUIDELINES at local authority level, to provide for sustainable housing development that will prevent the creation of ghettoes and social segregation, have been called for by Deputy Denis Naughten.Speaking to the Roscommon Herald Deputy Naughten expressed his concern that unless the necessary measures were taken we could see the proliferation of ghettoes and greater social segregation within our communities. His comments follow the recent school controversy in Dublin, which prompted the Department of Education to provide an emergency school in Balbriggan to accommodate a population of immigrant children, who had been turned away from everywhere else. There has also been evidence of Irish families moving out of neighbourhoods and out of schools where immigrants have settled in large... Similar posts
