image A while ago I came to the conclusion that Lukas' long and disheveled hair was so last year andhat he needed a tidier cut for the summer. He also tends to sweat an awful lots from his head when he's asleep which made his hair look like a mop or Slash from Guns'n'Roses with his gelled locks. We had to get the job done before the holidays, and I thought I'd do it myself again since the first time was fairly successful. My hairdresser in Edinburgh had told me earlier that if a child is too young to sit still and not move his head, it doesn't make a difference if you're a top of your game hairdresser or not - the results will be appalling anyway - so I thought I'd rather give it a go myself first than pay a tenner for someone else to ruin it for me. And how did I do? This time I remembered to... Similar posts

Still A Piece Missing via Secret Diaries of a Wannabe Yummy Mammy, Oct 1st, 2009 at 02:29

image Bad blogger Yummy Mammy. I shall hold my hand out while you all slap it. I know I was bad leaving you all hanging there last week, and then waiting a bit longer whilst I went off celebrating for the weekend, and then got back and sort of couldn't really be arsed to sit and update. But I'm here now, so as usual, grab the fags, top up the glass or stick the kettle on. Yep, it's another Yummy Mammy update that ends with me having cramp in my poor little fingers. Make yourself comfortable. We shall start with Batman.I can guess that you have all been scratching your heads wondering how the hell I managed to get him to cave. How on earth have I finally managed to escape Ireland (well nearly, still 21 days to go yet) and manage to move back to good old England. We reached a compromise! Yep! Shock... Similar posts

Ten Days in May via Annie Rhiannon, May 21st, 2008 at 01:01

Day One: We Need to TalkAbout five minutes after I finish my final schoolwork, he says it: We need to talk.I look at him in shock. I'm no fun anymore, apparently, and he wants out. No fun anymore? I've just finished my MA! He looks at his feet and I realise that's half the problem: he's been waiting for me to finish this MA forever, waiting and waiting for the right time, never wanting to upset me in the middle of it all. How could I not have noticed? I guess I was obsessed with my school-work — obsessed with myself — I mean, I knew he hadn't been sleeping well recently, but... this? He nods; he never sleeps well when he's upset. But I thought he'd been stressing about work; not fretting over ending two-and-a-half years of relationship.I spend the whole night awake. It's funny that he... Similar posts

image My hair grows REALLY slowly. Recently, my hair was the longest it’s been in my life EVER and it took five years to get there from a crop. I did have hair cuts in between, so, maybe, if I hadn’t had other hair cuts and trims, it might actually only have taken three years. But, anyway, my hair was long. And getting thinner. Don’t get me wrong, I have LOADS of hair, every hair dresser says so. But, I don’t have as much hair as I used to. Each individual hair is much, much thinner than it used to be. There are various reasons for this I imagine, age, hormones, lack of vitamins etc. Although, does anyone else have this problem? Thinning hair, not pattern thinning, just overall, getting thinner. For the sake of my hair I decided a cut was in order. I used to have cropped... Similar posts

A Few Firsts via new.browne to new.born, Mar 1st, 2006 at 15:43

Yesterday Helen came round for a Pancake Tuesday dinner & pancakes (obviously). We were all glad to see her back as we thought Lukas' cranky crying and our ghost-like faces might have scared her off for good last time, but apparently she's tougher than that! Had a lovely and relaxed night, a bit like the one with Flick and Isabelle, except that Ronan was with us this time. Lukas was good company for a change, and he's friends with Helen again. Also a point worth celebrating is that the pancakes came out great! I got a new recipe from the January Good Food magazine (for which I'm still waiting someone to get me a subscription for...), and I think gas stoves are a lot better for frying pancakes that electrical ones. Just the fact that you can adjust the heat instantaniously is a great... Similar posts
