Elemis Beauty Products - Expensive but Excellent via wysiwyg, Dec 28th, 2005 at 16:23

image In the past few months I have discovered Elemis skin care products, thanks to the strangely addictive shopping channel QVC. It is a range that is normally only available in premium spas around the world. They have recently started to branch out into retail and there is now an Elemis counter and some spa treatments available in Debenhams in London and here in Ireland at the Harvey Nichols store in Dundrum. I don’t usually get taken in by all these miracle cream claims and am pretty low maintenance, but I was so impressed by the presentation given by QVC’s resident Elemis therapist Keeley that I decided to give it a go. (The great thing about buying from QVC is that there is a 30 day no quibble money back guarantee regardless of how much you have used the creams! I have yet to... Similar posts

How to: Getting More Out of Anti-Ageing Creams via Beaut.ie - The Irish Beauty Blog, Dec 16th, 2009 at 15:30

image Here’s another (baby) elephant in the corner: have you ever bought an anti-ager, packed full of proven ingredients like Retinol, and found that, well, it just didn’t cut the mustard for you? Sure, the ingredients and science might be great but your skin felt as tight as a bodhran, and uncomfortable with it? This is something that happens to me all the time - I’m at an age now where I do think my skincare needs to ramp up a step from doing lovely hydrate-y, skin-plumpy things (the core, in truth of many ‘anti-agers’ is just to hydrate skin well so any fine lines are plumped out, and perhaps lash a bit of SPF into the mix) to also offer some nice regenerative benefits. The problem is, most of the ones I’ve tried just haven’t had a base that’s... Similar posts

Ask & You Shall Receive - Rosacea via Beaut.ie - The Irish Beauty Blog, Jan 14th, 2007 at 14:32

Two readers have contacted us recently about Rosacea. One of you was looking for information on Eucerin Redness Relief Soothing Night Cream, and I’ve contacted their Irish distributor on your behalf. I haven’t heard anything back yet, but when I do, I’ll blog about it, fear not. The other lady wanted to know if we could recommend her some new products. She’s been using La Roche Posay for years, and wants a change. For the benefit of the uninitiated, Rosacea is a common disorder of the facial skin. It’s characterised by a reddening and an acne-like appearance of the skin, and it’s very distressing for sufferers. It can be controlled, but not cured. Now, all I can really give you is some pointers to products I’ve found. I’m not a doctor or... Similar posts

Organic Brands: lavera via Beaut.ie - The Irish Beauty Blog, Nov 23rd, 2006 at 11:43

image lavera (which means ‘the truth’) is one of the original and best known organic brands, and in its native Germany, it’s one of the biggest sellers out of all cosmetic brands - organic and otherwise. Given the massive size of the German market, that’s a pretty good recommendation. The brand started when its founder, Thomas Haase, a sufferer of a skin condition known as neurodermatitis, couldn’t find a product to suit his skin. He began to look into the benefits of natural cosmetics and how chemical and pesticide free formulations could help him. In 1975 he created his first product, a lip balm, and after another 12 years of research and personal experimentation, he was ready to launch his own brand. lavera was born, and from the beginning has maintained... Male Moisturisers via Beaut.ie, Oct 4th, 2006 at 13:54

I’ve been polling men of my acquaintance to find out what moisturisers they do and don’t recommend. If you’re a man reading this and you don’t use a moisturiser on a regular basis, honestly, you really should start. Skin care isn’t just for women, and like us you have to live in your skin for your whole life, so it’s really, really worth taking good care of. In addition, you lot have to shave every day and that abrades your skin too, so start taking care of it! Clinique M Lotion got several votes - one man said ‘basically, it just works’. Which is as good a recommendation as any! But like the women’s version, it doesn’t have a Skin Protection Factor (SPF) which I think is a bit of a failing. Clinique Superdefense was also...
