Auch das ist Irland. Nach einem morgendlichen Dreher auf dem Weg zur Arbeit (glücklicherweise glimpflich ausgegangen) lief bei mir im Auto auf dem Arbeitsweg heute morgen (wie meistens) Today FM. Und dabei wurde ich Ohrenzeuge einer äußerst bewegenden Geschichte.Der Moderator hat ein Mail vorgelesen, dass von einer Michelle an die Redaktion verfasst war.Der Inhalt, aus dem Gedächtnis wieder gegeben: Der Vater der Verfasserin hatte 35 Jahre lang einen gut gehenden Betrieb in Irland, wurde aber im Jahr 2008 von der Rezession hart getroffen. Er musste 8 Leute entlassen, und den Betrieb maßgeblich verkleinern. Im Dezember 08 wurde dann auch noch Krebs bei ihm diagnostiziert, und er musste seinen Betrieb komplett schließen.Seine Krankenversicherung deckte nicht die vollen... Similar posts

Mensch der Arbeit aufgewacht,und erkenne Deine Macht,alle Räder stehen still,wenn Dein starker Arm es will ...Diese Zeilen sind in einer Zeit geschrieben worden, als Streiks oft noch das einzige Mittel der arbeitenden Klasse waren, sich gegen die Gutsherrenbesitzer, Fabriksbosse und die allgemein "Herrschenden" etwas zu behaupten im Kampf ums tagtägliche Überleben.Nun, anno domini 2009 sind Streiks oftmals auch ein Mittel, über die Jahre angehäufte Boni und Pfründe zu sichern, was das - damals sinnvolle - Mittel etwas in Frage stellt.Gestern war nun also der Streik der Lehrerinnen und Lehrer. Schön für den Sohnemann: Ein schulfreier Tag. Nicht so schön für die Eltern überall auf der Insel, die sich oftmals gleich den Tag frei nehmen mussten, um die Kinder beaufsichtigen zu... Passt aber ganz gut zum heutigen Nachmittag, den ich mir im Büro mit mehr oder weniger sinnloser Tätigkeit um die Ohren geschlagen habe.Ich sitze hier über einigen offenen Fällen. Sprich: Wir haben Waren geliefert, und die Kunden bezahlen aus diesem oder jenem Grund arg verspätet oder - eher anzunehmen - gar nicht.Und nach einer gewissen Zeit steht dann die Entscheidung ins Haus: Accountmäßig abschreiben oder in irgendeiner Form weiter betreiben.Nun, oftmals - vor allem bei "kleineren" Forderungen im Paar-Hundert-Euro-Bereich macht nur Ersteres wirklich Sinn im Sinne der Kosten-Nutzen-Rechnung.Immer wieder faszinierend dabei der Einfallsreichtum der säumigen... Der Rechtsanwalt aus dem County Offaly hat die Fianna Fail in die schlimmste Krise seit ihrem Bestehen hineinmanövriert, und seine Regierungspartei wurde in der vergangenen Woche bei den nationalen und den EU-Wahlen böse abgestraft (wenn auch nicht ganz in dem Ausmaß dass zu erwarten war).Zwar ist er nicht alleine verantwortlich für das Debakel, aber er ist 'in charge' für die FF, seit Bertie Ahern fluchtartig das Boot verlassen hat. Und sieht sich nun mit einer Menge Vorwürfe konfrontiert. Misstrauensvotum und heftige Kritik aus den eigenen - einst so treuen - Reihen inklusive.Doch offiziell gibt sich Cowen kampfbetont.
