Thanks very much, to all the 6th class students of Clonpriest National School, for organising a successful year end Jumble Sale in aid of the Irish Heart Foundation. The €950 raised was gratefully received from 6th class teacher Áine Uí Neill who pointed out that it was the students themselves who decided to donate the funds to the Irish Heart Foundation.  It is very encouraging to know that young enthusiastic people are joining us in raising much-needed funds. The money raised means we can continue funding our lifesaving CPR and resuscitation programme and continue to fund school resources such as Bizzy Break and Action for Life and the promotion of positive experiences in physical activity. Iron Maiden are one of those heavy metal bands that garnered a following among even the least heavy metal lovers, they have a range of songs that seem to appeal to all types and i count myself as one who would not be a big metal fan but have a soft spot for Iron Maiden. Youghal’s status as a walled town of significant merit on the national and international stage has been enhanced with a €200,000 grant to the town council from the Irish Walled Towns Network. There’s a good crowd moving towards the stage when I hear ‘I think Storyfold may have shot themselves in the foot, that support band were great. First up was Dermot Kennedy. Accompanied by Michéal Quinn on cajon, Kennedy is a solid singer songwriter with a nice vocal style, with shades of David Gray and John Mayer creeping in on occasion. He was confident enough to do a new, as yet untitled song and at 18 years old, has a lot of promise. Fresh from appearances at Oxegen and Benicassim, Ryan Sheridan is next up.
