 This is nuts !
Also check out this link which explains more about the phenomenon …
“Modern suit design features tightly woven nylon sewn between the legs and between the arms and torso, creating wings that fill with air and create lift, allowing for forward motion and aerial maneuvers while slowing descent. As the suits, which cost about $1,000, have become more sophisticated, so have the pilots. The best fliers, and there are not many, can trace the horizontal contours of cliffs, ridges and mountainsides.”...

DUBLIN, IRELAND (Team Geared Up) - This is really nuts, it’s a vertical catapult to fire base-jumpers up into the air before releasing their canopy.
Extreme Sports - BASE Jumpers have been known for going to great lengths in order to obtain some altitude, but this has to be the most unique we’ve seen so far.
Nuts! Thanks to Damien for finding that one!

LONDON (Geared Up Blog) - Kudos to TCAL for spotting this one (we missed it!).
A sky diver’s helmet cam shows how his shoot doesn’t deploy, and he’s lands at 80mph in a forest but survives with some broken bones and punctured lung. Nice.
His friend films the whole thing too from behind him, and then lands in the undergrowth beside him.
It began as a routine day last December for Mikey who was instructing a group of trainees who set off in bright sunshine from an airbase.
He said: “There were 16 people on the plane, the usual mix of students and instructors. It was a routine jump from 15,000ft - about a minute’s freefall and then opening my main canopy when the altimeter on my wrist showed 5,000ft.
“When I pulled the ripcord, I realised there was...

DUBLIN (Geared Up Blog) - Press play below, and be in awe. Speed-riding has to be one of the craziest sports I’ve seen recently. The boys at Acro-Base who seem to be pioneering it, have recently filmed a video of a speed-ride down the Eiger. It’s amazing footage.
Speed-riding appears to be skiing with a full paraglider attached to you. Very like kite surfing in a way - but considering you’ve got the altitude drop to play with you need slightly more than just a kite! Everytime you hit an edge you fly, apparently they managed to descend Mont Blanc (4810m) from summit to valley in only 8 minutes, now that is fast!...

The Community At Large Reports that Cedric Dumont and Red Bull are in Hot Water over BASE jump off M50 and RTE antenna!
Read the full article here: Sunday Times.
Boy they’d want to watch out, they’ve got the full force of BRAY GARDAI after them. hahahah.
National Toll Roads (NTR) said it was appalled at Red Bull and Dumont for performing the stunt on the Westlink. “This extremely dangerous stunt was totally unauthorised,” said NTR. “It’s an incredibly stupid act. They have shown no concern for health and safety. They’ve also shown no concern for fellow drivers by parking their car where there is no hard shoulder. That is illegal, as is climbing on the railings. We will be pursuing this matter.”

This is absolutely incredible. Valeri Rozov has many other accomplishments to his name having won Russia’s, Europe’s and World’s championships in parachuting. He has been driving along the Russian extreme B.A.S.E. climbing project. The acronym B.A.S.E. stands for Buildings, Antennas, Spans and Earth; the four types of platforms used in BASE jumping.
“Nobody believes it, but we did it,” Russian X-gamer Valeri Rozov declared earlier this month, shortly after making the first BASE-jump from the Alps’ Grandes Jorasses. The news were stirring for sure: The Jorasses had been deemed impossible; experts said the huge wall lacked a single spot safe enough to launch a free-fall jump. But here they are, the breath-taking images of the jump that followed a climb on one...
